The monochromatic, shades-of-grey look was very “in” last fall.
How do you take that idea and adapt it for a new season?
By mixing tones, shades and hues of one color family.
Everything in today’s outfit is a shade somewhere between brown and olive (the color of the season). These earthy tones, all different in texture, offer an interesting play on color that is easy on the eye, but not boring.
Bonus tip: need to look “dressed-up” but it’s too hot out for a jacket? Throw on a waistcoat with peak lapels instead of a blazer.
Thanks for reading.
Yours in stlye,
SB

Wow! What a fab look! The waste coat is special.

Man, this is a dope combo. Love the old watch esp since it’s your grand pop’s.
Think a lot of people try a little too hard to keep within what’s expected…and you’ve really been mixing it up a lot lately. And this was really killer.
Keep it up, Dan…really think you got something going here with the new website/more frequent posts.
Hey SB, when’s the shop going to be up and running?
We are working on it now. No real date set yet, but – as Jenilee will tell you – we are shooting for it to go live asap.
How much would this whole outfit cost? Although I think it’s a great look, you have to be pretty wealthy to shop at Michael Andrews Bespoke.
The vest would be $265, pants $340, and shirt $165 – which is in line with, or less expensive, than a typical off-the-rack luxury clothing brand. Nevertheless, probably not in line with what an average guy wants to spend – including myself. If you can find a way to brand yourself, or make yourself valuable from a marketing standpoint, however, things can get a little more affordable ;)
I guess this is a message to all of my readers.
I realize alot of my clothing is expensive and one of a kind (because I design it myself – after all, I am working on making the jump to designer) – so the content here may not be useful to you as a direct –shopping guideâ€. That is not really the goal. I hope to inspire, not to encourage you to wear exactly what I’m wearing.
With that said, per many of your requests, I will try to include more –get this look†type of shopping references, at different price points.
Thanks, as always, for reading and for all your supportive messages.
Yours in style,
Dan
I like the print on print! :-)
All of these accessories are really well chosen, the tie is especially nice! I also think a camel beige jacket to throw on would complete the look.
I did a quick google search for “Sebago Lighthouse Boots” and I stumbled upon your blog. I’m diggin the site alot… You have a superb transitional style of dressing bro. I’m diggin the Brown Gingham shirt and the Persol Shades. What style number are those Persol’s by the way?

Wardrobe Staple: With fall on its way, can you show some different looks on how to wear a camel hair sports jacket?
Post some new fly shit SB!
New fly shit posted brother.

Love the shirt-tie-vest combo! especially the vest, i like how it has that peak lapel, but it’s still not over the top.

I try to push the limits a little without looking –over the topâ€. The idea is to rest on the top, i guess :) Thanks for reading!
Outfit looks great. Any tips on when to button the top button on a vest as I see you did in the picture? Is it due to the peak lapels?
Depends on the vest. Different fabrics, fits, styles, etc all fall differently. If it looks better with the top button fastened (lapels break less and drapes over the chest better), then button ‘er up.
I really like the shirt!
But the seersucker vest combined with the gingham shirt would be a little too busy for me.
I like the fact that you wear stuff you have from your grandfather. It really ads a lot of personality to your outfit. A lot of respect for honoring your grandfather on the Blog.
Keep your good work up!
Items with sentimental value – and those that have “stories to tell” – are always a good look. Thanks for reading.
Dear SB,
U nailed it but it doesn’t work this time.
I just think u’re too much with your plaid shirt.
In my opinion, it’ll work better with a plain shirt but keep it in the same color family.
It’s just my opinion, though.
Maybe u had something different in mind.
Nice job, as always. Keep up the good work.
Will always be a fan of your blog.
Everyone is open to their opinion. That’s what makes this fun. Thanks for sharing!
Just noticed the socks… pulls it all together. One of your best looks!
Sweet post and I love the new homepage display- just simply gettin’ better and better!
the image quality is awesome ! probably the only blog that I know with such high resolution pics. I mean you just earned my respect with those pics.
Great shirt but honestly I think the pocket watch is too much. I mean you don’t want to look like your overdoing it or wearing a costume.
I still can’t believe how young you are Dan. I wish I had 1/10th of the style sense you have when I was your age. Feel like I am repeating myself in every post, but the outfit is outstanding.
Have to also agree that the photography is a marked improvement and the increased frequency of posts is great. Hope everything is going well in NYC for you. Keep up the good work and posts!
This is very impressive, thoughtful selection of accessories (tie pin, pocket watch). But above all the improvement of the photography has been astounding. These shots look awesome! And the increased frequency of posts is also nice. Keep up the good work!
Love the peak lapels on your vest!
Outfit looks awesome. Keep up the good work Dan.
