Can you please incorporate more jays into your outfits or more casual styles without the blazers? I’m a student and I prefer not looking too spiffy. Thanks, I really dig this style.
i know i’m way late on the post and may sound stupid but this seems a comfortable place to ask. i’m just getting into the whole tailored suit and hard bottoms more mature look. got a little tired with the street wear look and where it was going but i still love some of the trendiness of it. bought a great 2 button wool suit yesterday and i’ve already put together a nice shoe, shirt, and pocket scarf combo. what i found fun, and correct me if i’m headed toward disaster, is when i found a “zack morris esque” colorful button up shirt i plan to wear with it and i want to get some black or purple sneakers to wear with it. probably aj1′s or grape 5′s. is this irresponsible?lol
Wow great post. I used to be into sneakers, hip-hop, and all that jazz during high school. Although I’ve matured, as a basketball player I too have a soft spot for some great sneaks.
Thanks for giving hope–even maturely dressed guys can pull off some good ol’ J’s.
Completely off topic, but what is your take on wearing a white shirt (as opposed to a v-neck) under a button down in an office setting – biz casual?
GQ always seems to rep rocking a v-neck, but then they interviewed the lead designer for j.crew and he was wearing a ringed tee (gray) under his button down.
I know there are many ways to slice this one, but from a fashion standpoint is there something that should be stuck to?
My grandpa wears his vintage watch with an electric green watch strap, I’ve always thought it was an amazing idea to add some colour and eccentric elegance to a look.
SB,
Love the Jordan’s and the entire look, but i have to disagree with you on one point. The Air Jordan 11 has to be the greatest Jordan ever! Black Patent leather…classic!
Be Well,
Carter
I still rock/purchase Js from time to time, just copped the 13 flints and grey 11s. Very nice look, good job puttin the Js to work. Sooo sad to hear you got rid of yours, even if it was for some “grown folks” gear.
I have been looking through your posts and I loved you wing tip boots– where would you recommend shopping for a good pair of stylish boots without a heavy price. The only good ones I see are cared by Gucci, D&G and D^2 – Do you got any tips
Hey John. I think you’re talking about the Paul Smith wingtip boots. When it comes to shoes, I usually splurge a little for something well-made. Quality can’t really be faked in footwear. I would suggest checking vintage stores, second-hand shops, sample sales, ebay, or gilt groupe – I think I actually got those specific ones on ebay.
I like what appears to be your use of the same watch with different bands in various outfits. I know that not all watches have the capability of switching bands in and out. Could you maybe explain a bit about the background of your watch, where you find bands, etc.?
Thanks, keep it up. I used to have the platinum AJI’s, years ago. Loved them. Did you ever get into the Nike SB game?
Yeah, Why didn’t you just go to the NBA???? LOLOLOLOLOL, you ask as if it’s that easy to just make it to that level as if he decided, aww well I like basketball and I WOULD go to NBA I just don’t feel like it right now, maybe later.
SB,
Similar to yourself, I’ve grown up with a sport-influenced life, and decided to purchase a pair of white/gray/red Nike Air Maxim 1′s. I absolutely love these shoes, but they get SO dirty. I’ve tried to be careful with them, but in the end, the world has won. I didn’t know if you had any tips on shoe care, how to give the shoe it’s original shine. None of the shoe is leather =[, mostly mesh, and some suede-similar material. Any help would be much appreciated.
I’d wear this look with some desert boots or a military type. But the glasses and the coat are awesome!

Comment all the way from Brasil! Keep up the nice job!
While I gave up wearing my basketball shoes a long time ago, I still love my sneaker equivalents in classics such as the Adidas ‘Samba’, Puma ‘Roma’ and other old school sneakers. And while dressing nicely in fine suits and expensive dress shoes feels great, it’s nice to switch it up as you have here by dressing ‘down,’ so to speak, and wearing some sneakers while still having nice attire up above. Love the watch by the way!
Hello SB, I enjoyed the post. You’ve got excellent style and I am definitely taking your cues in formulating my dress personality.
I have been rocking some cross trainers black and yellow nikes lately with a more formal dress; I also like to color match (my bike is black and yellow; i rock a yellow band on the watch). Anyways, just wanted to say I relate and dig this post. Keep up the good work man.

I like your blog but to be honest I am not a fan of Jordans
Love your blog, but I’m not a fan of the Jordan line.
Can’t wait to see your summer looks

Have you ever been apart of NT? Just seems so.
I’m assuming NT = Nike Talk? I’m familiar with it, but I never got into the forum thing…just not enough time to keep up I think.
Thanks for reading.

sweet watch and glasses. those shades make everything look rad.
Agreed. Thx, Dan

Man, I wish I could get into the whole Air Jordan thing. Just never grabbed me. I think the only sneakers I wear anymore are some classic CT’s. :)
If it’s not you, it’s not you. Stay true to yourself.
Thanks, as always, JMRouse.
Best,

I love this look..the hint of red from your watch to match the shoes….nice!!!

If we’re talking basketball shoes, then you have an argument. But as casual kicks, no way.

SB,
I don’t get the watchband thingy. Is it possible to get an array of watchbands and then interchange?

No one has a better handle on the past posts than you TO. Thanks, as always. -Dan
Great.. Very interesting.
Maybe it’s time I dusted off my Jordans!
Great job…as always.

Where’d you find that jacket?
Woodbury Commons Premium Outlets. 4 Years ago. Thanks for reading, Dan

Loving this Urban inspired look just as much as I did the first one.
Speaking of your b-ball career…what happened? How come you didn’t make the move to the NBA? Are you still playing for recreation?
Yeah, Why didn’t you just go to the NBA???? LOLOLOLOLOL, you ask as if it’s that easy to just make it to that level as if he decided, aww well I like basketball and I WOULD go to NBA I just don’t feel like it right now, maybe later.
No need to be a dick, guy. I was just curious what his involvement in the b-ball world was these days, seeing as it’s a big part of who he is.
