2. Cotton in All its Beauty
We talk a lot about mixing fabrics here on TSB. What I love about this look is that everything Grayson is wearing is cotton (with the exception of the boots), but in all kinds of forms and textures.
“This burnt orange FM Allan jacket was a very special gift a couple years ago. It’s a classic beeswaxed cotton made in the US – kind of a cross between a Barbour and a Belstaff, but with a little more color.”
“The green corduroy piece is a quail jacket by Billy Reid, the knit is a military style pullover with an awesome blue/grey texture, and the scarf is 100% indigo dyed cotton.”
“The boots are a Roper style lug sole, which is great for the outdoors in any weather.
The bag is a small canvas duffle made and washed in Bolivar, TN, also by Billy Reid.”

I love it. thoughtfully layered up & effortless looking at the same time
“This article, brought to you b Billy Reid”
Nice layering jobs in most of these.
The guy does work at Billy Reid. I mean, if I could afford it I’d only wear BR too.
Staff discount never hurts though – he’ll be getting 40-50% off everything.
Your ‘bootcut’ paranoia is funny. I’m pretty sure no one will toss you into #menswearjail for this post. Grayson isn’t afraid and neither should you.
It has nothing to do with paranoia or being afraid, it’s more about advising men on a mass scale and positioning our verbiage in a manner that is not misleading.
Anyway, thanks for reading.
Just an observation on pants made for boot wearers: in “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly,” Clint’s pants are NOT boot cut.
Different and interesting! A lot of rich texture here. One question: Does Grayson size up on some of the outer layers? Some of the inner layers look quite thick and it seems that the outer layers would be very loose without something substantial underneath. Thanks!
Ha, this guy would be like a miracle to Tommy Ton if he ever saw him walking in New York wearing layers like this. This Grayson dude is definitely an inspiration style-wise. No scratch that, this whole website is an inspiration for a 17-year old like me. Respect given Trepanier.
That coat in the third pic… I need in my life.
OK looks but for me far too many collars fighting for prominence up top. I’d prefer a layering approach comprising jacket/jumper or waistcoat/shirt/tee. BTW, what’s the collective noun for collars, I wonder…
That leather vest made me speechless. Want.
Killer boots (look 1), very impressed they’re from Billy Reid.

I wrote look 1, but they’re all killer.

Awesome and inspiring. Huge props to Grayson and the TSB team.
Are those the rayban wayfarer?
I’m pretty sure those are the Ray Ban folding wayfarers, polarized bronze lens. The folding ones have a very distinct curve that the new wayfarers do not have, fold (obviously), and have slightly larger lens size.
I’m pretty sure they are the Ray Ban folding wayfarer with brown frame and bronze polarized lenses. The folding wayfarers have a very distinct curve behind the ear, fold (obviously), and have a slightly larger lens size.
Wow… great piece.
Love all the looks but # 3 jumped out at me right away. Very casually dressy and a great looks. Love the jacket.
Grayson looks alot like me so I really like those clothes. Same features and hairstyle and build….lol. just sayin.
The only thing I’m not crazy about is alot of layering. I like a nice seater or shirt and a warm coat I can take off. I don’t want to carry any extra clothing with me to be comfortable.
Man – you guys are absolutely killing it! Just a matter of time before the big guys come knocking on your doors to buy you out – if they haven’t already :-).
Keep it up guys.
TSB: you guys are changing the game. There is NOBODY doing it at this level. Not even close.
we appreciate the recognition man, thanks for your support!
the mix of the black and tobacco color in look 1 is just too good.
Grayson has such an ability to make stand out pieces look like part of a whole. His entire outfit comes together without any one thing really standing out. And the fact that all of his pieces are of such high quality, that’s really saying something. The guy defines effortless cool.
Great post gentlemen
