Who wore it best: Luxe Performance Jeans

September 9th, 2013

Our friends at 7 For All Mankind sent us some jeans from their new “Luxe Performance” collection to test drive while we were back in NYC for Fashion Week.

Towni, Wes and I all agreed that the Slimmy in “Sunset’s Edge” was our favorite style. They’re lightweight and breathable (9.75 oz), made from “complete recovery” stretch denim (a custom-milled Italian fabric designed to retain shape) and they’re soft-brushed on the inside for superior comfort. I have to admit, I was surprised at how comfortable these really are.

We thought we’d have a little fun with the review by each putting our own spin on the jeans in a “who wore it best” post. You can use the poll at the end of the article to vote for your favorite look.

1. Towni

01

Towni went with his “off-duty movie star” look, messy samurai bun and all.

I love his knack for looking slouchy and rumpled, but in a way that is cool and intriguing. Here he makes a very strong case for wearing clothing with worn-in character (vintage corduroy jacket, faded/stretched-out linen t-shirt, scuffed-up moccassins).

Mixing black, blue, and brown? Why not? It only ads to the nonchalant ‘not giving a damn’ feel of his look.

04

We each handled the hemline of these jeans differently…

Towni went with a slouchy roll; a perfect match for the laidback vibe of this look (and choice of footwear).

Towni: Do you know this is a fashion/style blog?

Dan: Love the look! I would totally steal this look. Good call on having the jeans tailored.

Wes: I’m starting to see you really like a big cuff on your pants. I immediately think, get them tailored because that is alot of material. I personally think the big cuff look only works when trying to go for that ’50′s biker look…James Dean-ish. The shoes are kinda blah. When going with such a simple look, your shoe choice is what makes the entire outfit transcend simplicity. A really cool loafer could have done wonders for you.

  • John

I liked them all, but jeans without the yellow-orange contrast just look weird to me.

  • Kojo Y

Dan gets this one. His look was just more well put together. Wes came second but he lost points with the velvet jacket. Its never been a personal fav; very few designers or brand are able to construct velvet jackets and not have them come across inferior however, Wes did a good job at pulling it off

  • cam

dan with the loafers…on another note, i was just on four pins looking at the nyfw street style pics…no wonder you moved to l.a…..do people actually wear some of that ish???

  • Steve

Hey Dan and Towni what’s going with the chest hair! Go get some manscaping!!

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

Nah, too much manscaping is never a good thing.

    • http://tsbmen.com Townsend

Real men have chest hair. Enough said.

    • Dan F

Looks just fine to me. Curious, do you shave your chest and refuse to go out without an undershirt Steve ?

  • LouCaves

Dan’s look received my vote. If you’re going to go tie-less with a jacket make sure the shirt collar can stand it. Nice.

Dan, glad to see the beard is back!

Wes, an ice cube under the eyes goes a long way after a night like that.

    Thanks, TSB.

it’s that obvious in the pic huh? lol I’ll remember that next time

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

Sunglasses and advil, last night was mad real!!

  • Galps

I have a feeling Alex would have nailed it. But ill go for Dan on this occasion, the sky blue jacket makes it.

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

He didn’t get the nod for this one…but he’ll appreciate your comment :)

  • Eddie

    I actually like towni’s hair -

He looks like a mix of white jesus, johnny depp, and joakim noah

      #Amen

  • http://undefined Robert

Dan, but closely followed by Wes. If Townsend picked a better shoe choice, he’d have won, hands down…

  • Rich

    Dan – no contest

  • mark

yall bringin the velvet and corduroy out! Summer time is ovaaa

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

      Slowly… with tees to start

  • Harvey

Really glad to see TSB endorsing 7 for all man kind. Really love their jeans, but their raw denim line isn’t as good in my opinion. But my go to non-raw denim jeans.

  • Rob A

    Wes. New Slave

  • Joe

    Dan wore it best.

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

      Thx player

  • DF

Please get a haircut Towni! you dont suit looking homeless

  • John B

I like the idea behind Townsend’s look, but something looks off in the pictures. Maybe it’s the color of the jeans, I don’t know! I’m going with Wes, but Dan looks great too.

  • http://undefined Jeanscuffed

It would be easy if at least one of ya’ll slipped up on your outfits. I’m gonna have to give it to the “Filipino James Dean”. For this choice it was all shoe preference. Mocs are cool, the Croc loafs are badass, BUT I’ve always had admiration for a horsebit loafer. I would usually think of jeans that aren’t slim cut wouldn’t work but Towni kills the “slouchy” look. It just works for him. Great job fellas.

  • MS

    Hey, DT,

    Answer a couple questions?

Do these have that back pocket design that all 7 jeans have?
Did you tailor the leg opening too? Or are they that narrow OTR?

  • Pooky

Everybody looks good from the top half. Jeans are meh

  • http://undefined TO

Voted for Dan for the winningest forgotten Spanish jacket I have ever seen:)

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

hahaha. the back of the closet is always a come-up. By moving my entire wardrobe to the West coast I found some hidden gems.

I hope all is well TO! We should get on the phone soon, re: LA Connect

  • http://undefined Mr E

    Dear Townsend,

I know you’re new to the world of longer locks, but as a representative of the look for a few years now, I must ask you to refrain doing that slicked back look ever again.

    Please.

    Thank you.

    Mr E

    • http://tsbmen.com Townsend

Haha ouch. Gotta keep it out of my face somehow! Any other suggestions?

      • http://undefined Mr E

How about tucking it behind your ears whilst you’re waiting for the length to grown in further?

If that doesn’t work throw on a toque or a ball cap in the interim.

        • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

Toque eh? Would go great with some All Dressed chips.

          #onlyinCanada

          • TO

            or delicious ketchup chips:)

      • Benny

Don’t listen to him, it looks badass!

        • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

          Agreed.

    • MS

Could not disagree with you more!

      • http://undefined undefined

Either a ponytail if preferrable or…… cut that shit! :)

        • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

No way. Samurai bun kills it.

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

I sincerely hope Towni disregards this comment.

  • Bret

Seven jeans – Stretch? C’mon, these jeans are simply not recommendable denim to anyone. Cash grab endorsement.

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

I prefer a little stretch in my lightweight jeans, especially slimmer ones.

Don’t knock ‘em till you try ‘em

    • http://undefined TO

I practically need a little stretch, it goes a long way if you have “hard to fit” legs!
