“Gotta love Fall, and menswear classics… Tortoise frames, flannel glenplaid suit, sky blue oxford, slim retro tie. ”

Who says you can’t wear a backpack – even a tough-ass rucksack – with a 3-piece suit? Sometimes you just have to lug a lot of sh-t while looking like a million bucks.

We’ve spoken before about the styling power of a beard and how it can help a man pull-off more “unusual” styles. It instantly gives your look a more care-free and masculine character. The hair and knit cap makes this all work together better too, I think.

“A very British suit with a very American tie.”

IMG_1083

Who says you can’t wear a cotton tie with a flannel suit? The contrasting textures actually complement each other nicely.

IMG_1091

Towni’s really flexing on this one. I love all the subtle plays on burgundy.

The glenplaid, the pocket square, the tie, the under collar felt, even the oxblood in the shoes.

Well done young man.

Wes, great jacket, and I remember it from a previous post. While, the jacket looks decent even with the sleeve length, part of me wishes the sleeves were just a tad bit longer. Is there anything a tailor could do you think to lengthen the sleeves? I have a great peacoat I thrifted a few years back which had sleeves a tad short and I had it altered to let out some material in the sleeves to lengthen them as much as possible and while there was a definite improvement I still which the sleeves were even an inch longer.

  • Ben G.

    @Wes: Lumberjacket. Boom.

  • Big Jon

Dan gets my vote this time. Awesome suit + cool socks = epic win.

By the way, what ever happened to John? I haven’t seen him in a WIWT post in ages? Does he still work with you guys?

  • Nevin

Definitely Townsend, perfectly tailored suit and excellent contrasting of fabrics. The awesome monkstraps, rucksack, and hat to make it unique. Looks great!

  • http://anorexicescapades.com BougieHippie

Wes always gets it right to me! He doesn’t add on extra “stuff” to look fashionable or different. Very consistent.

  • http://derbyparkour.co.uk James

Wes doesn’t seem to be getting any love. I voted Wes, love the look and want those boots.

  • http://undefined Micaiah

To say Dan & Towni were sharp would be an understatement, but Wes’ outfit is so dope. I can just tell by looking at his boots that alot of people may not like them, but they are perfect for that outfit. I’m most definitely stealing the mustard idea. The entire outfit was well thought out. Im a big pan of layering and piecing together items that you wouldnt normally see together.

Wes continues to be my favorite on here.
But job well done to all of the fellas.

    • http://www.tsbmen.com Westley Dimagiba

      thanks for the love.

  • Sam

Dan lost my vote because his tie looks so silly. Towni all the way this time!

  • Esmetjie

I think towni s suit is awesome and so well tailored, for real Even with a Packsack it fits Perfect !
Nothing against the Packsack towni, Looks Good ! But one picture without to Give the suit enough Space And we can See it without wrinkels !

  • TSB fan

Dan, just ridiculous. DAN WINS EASY. That suit is bonkers, that tie is retarded. Ish is bananas. My dude Wes rockin a beat up Paul Bunyan jacket and Dan over here in a silk bespoke suit, with some fabric i cant even pronounce , like HOW IS THAT EVEN FAIR. These other Dudes needa retire.

    • http://www.tsbmen.com Westley Dimagiba

      lmao

  • Jon

    You all killed it.

But Dan is on BEAST MODE with that suit! Take it easy on em Dan..

  • AM

Towni and Dan look perfect, but… a backpack? And that necktie, Dan?

My favorite is Dan… beautiful suit and your shoes are the best.

  • Adam E

Dan’s suit is killer (love the tie, but not a fan of the disheveled #menswear tying of it…), but Towni gets the vote, because it’s worn better (all aspects toque to boots are nailed). I too am averse to the suit and backpack, but it just works. Wes’ boots are killer too, I doubt I could ever pull them off with any confidence, but they’re sweet kicks.

  • http://www.nathandumas.sothebysrealty.com nathan dumas

like the improvement in the photos. close ups with detail. perfect.

  • roy

townsend by a close margin over dan…although the backpack i don’t like…a nice worn brown leather mailman style bag would have been perfect

  • Philip

Love Dan’s look – we could use more of that here in SoCal. The suit is fantastic.

But the tie? Great match. But the way it’s presented, it looks like a bowtie with E.D (sorry, that’s what first popped into my head.)

  • Chase

Bring back the glamour, Dan. McQueen and Newman can’t be there to do it anymore.

  • chrisd

Dan – doesn’t it bother you the way your tie falls? Looks like it wasn’t tied properly.. irks me! Sexy pair of shoes though..

Towni – the backpack looks baller with the suit actually.. the hat – not so much :)

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

I actually kind of like it. The fabric of the tie is beautiful, and the patterns lined up so well when I tied it, I thought they looked better together. There’s also a dimple in the backside…double dimple!

  • http://undefined Mr E

    Townsend.

    The glenplaid suit.

    The waistcoat.

    The toque.

    The beard AND hair.

    The waxed rucksack.

    All of it perfection.

    Applause.

      Cheers

TOQUE! Mr E my Canadian brother.

  • Patrick

Can’t find those “Just A Men Show” shoes anywhere. Typo?

    • http://tsbmen.com Townsend

Just A Men Shoe. I’ll fix it when I’m at a computer later. Thanks for pointing it out.

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

JUST A MEN SHOE. My bad.

  • http://wideeyestightwallets.com Adam

Damn, Towni KILLED this one. Dan’s suit is badass as well, but Towni just knocked this out of the park. I’ve been loving the glen plaid suits this fall, the burgundy accents on this one take it to another level. Well done, well done.

    • http://tsbmen.com Townsend

      Thanks bud

  • Vicente

    mustard “collared” or mustard “colored”?

  • Joe

I really hate backpacks on suits, until just now. Maybe it’s the knit cap, the beard, the flannel, I don’t know, but it looks great together. I’m voting for Towni. Everyone else looked great (though I dont’ know what it is, but I can’t stand kilts on footwear, maybe I suffer from kiltaphopia). I was looking forward to seeing Alex’s post, hope all is ok.

    • http://www.tsbmen.com Westley Dimagiba

wasn’t a big fan of kilts either, but damn was I lazy to take them off when I first bought them so I just got used to it.

  • http://undefined Joshua

Like Towni’s suit, but in Louisiana it doesn’t really get that cold, at least not in late October. The suit Dan has on is beautiful and it can still be worn down here as well.

  • Jack

Dan – Please let this be the last time you tie your tie like that. The worst affectation in menswear.

    • Kid Icarus

Agreed. I do not dig the showing tail look.

    • http://undefined Ishandev

Dan, can you teach me how to tie my tie like that?

      • http://www.tsbmen.com Westley Dimagiba

        lol

        • http://undefined Ishandev

I’m dead serious. I love that style. wasn’t there a post about it with step-by-step instructions.

    • roy

      too long!

  • Rob

Towni. Just WOW. Every single detail of the outfit is on point

  • careful observer

Please don’t wear a backpack with a suit Towni okay

    • http://www.tsbmen.com Westley Dimagiba

I think the backpack is a great compliment for this particular look.

      C’mon it’s not a Jansport.

  • Shawn

Wanted to vote for Wes initially, then I turned to the next page and saw Dan’s amazing suit and his wonderful tie… Sorry Wes, you were really close, but I gotta hand my vote to Dan this time!

    • http://www.tsbmen.com Westley Dimagiba

no hard feelings, that suit is murder.

  • Brady P

Wes, don’t be takin my October contest look.. that thin gauge turtle neck under the denim jacket is a killer pairing

  • http://undefined sam

thought Wes’ outfit killed it. unconventional. inspired. awesome use of color. first look where the demin underneath didnt look contrived. and those boots! (biting knuckles)

  • http://undefined Steven

“while leading the charge for the comeback of the suit in LA”

    YES!!!!!

  • LouCaves

Sorry, no help from me here.

My second WIWT in a row where I’m stumped. I choose not to choose. :)

    Looking good, gents.

    Thanks, TSB

  • ben rosen

very close this week. everyone looks great for different reasons. decision made because of footwear though. towni’s dub monks are amazing, dan’s wingtips are sharp but wes’ boots are just ugly.

  • John B

Went with Towni, but it was hard to choose. I’m getting jealous of the colder weather too..

  • cam

Went with Towni bc I’m getting the cold weather in my hometown as well. The collar pop almost had me reconsidering but I’ll let that one slide ;)

  • A fan

Dan, best suit I have ever seen.
