What I Wore Today – Dec 12 2013

I would probably never wear a polo shirt with the collar popped, unless it’s under a sweater.

Something about having the collar up seems more functional – it actually does keep your neck warm from a cool breeze.

013

I’m really digging the suede shooting patch and elbow patches on this crewneck that’s been sitting at the back of my closet.

Another example of a tasteful mix of black & brown.

014

I really liked this sock & loafer combo from yesterday’s post, so I broke it out again today.

Beefy socks are a nice way to transition your chinos to Fall.

Thanks, as always, for reading.

Yours in style,

TSBmen

    Alex – classy, simple.

Dan, My man ……YOU WIN!!!! LOL I love this entire look from top to bottom!!! Love, Love, Love the sweater!!! I thought it was Comme Des Garcons! Definitely looks like a Watanabe inspired piece! Love all of you guys looks though!! Keep killing it TSB, Much love from the STL-314 area!!!

  • kellen owenby

Dan’s sweater. Winner. I want to sew leather & suede patches on all my sweaters now…

Dan!!!! hat + sweater = YOU WIN!!!

  • Cody

So many awesome looks… Inspired to up my game!

  • http://wideeyestightwallets.com Adam

Wow, impossible to decide between Wes and Alex. Wes has some serious swagger going on with that outfit, and I just ordered a three piece flannel suit and will definitely be trying a look similar to Alex’s. Sorry, Dan, don’t think I can get behind the popped collar.

  • Stuart

    Alex. I love the look.

  • http://keyboardandcompass.com/ Jeff

I’ve got to go with Wes for the murdered out elegance. It’s been long enough since the black-denim obsession of the mid-00s for me to get back on board. And man am I ever on board when style like this!

  • Jakob

Alex today, Wes close second. Sorry Dan, if that would have been a white button-down instead of the popped polo… Awesome sweater though.

  • Zach

Love all three posts today. Wes looking NYC sharp, Alex with a great shawl collar, and Dan rocking some inspiration from the country.

@Dan – I actually have the same sweater, wore it just the other day! Has treated me well for holiday parties up here at school in New England.

  • Levi G

    All around TSB team brilliance.

But this one goes to Alex for most improved player.

  • Jonathan

    Hey Wes,

I really like that chesterfield coat. It looks like a perfect fit. How tall are you? Im 5’8 and not sure if it would be a good look on me. All you guys are style are awesome. Keep it coming.

    - Jonathan

    • http://www.tsbmen.com Westley Dimagiba

      Thank you Jonathan.

I’m 5’11, and the jacket is a medium. If the jacket is only a few inches long on you, you can always take it to your tailor.

      I hope this helps you!

      • Jonathan

        Good looking out Wes.

        • http://www.tsbmen.com Westley Dimagiba

          no doubt.

  • Esmetjie

    Alex got my Vote
But i think the cardigan One size smaller would ……
And i notized the monks Long Time ago, since then i keep my eyes Open for a similar One !

  • Mathieu Lavoie

Wow very nice looks guys, but I must say Dan look feels very unique and stylish yet easy going and comfortable, so he got my vote today.

Love the pop collar with this nice sweather, even more awesome with the hat combo!

  • Bobby P

If I restricted my voting to the category of stuff-I’d-actually-wear-myself, then I’ve gotta vote for Dan today.

The other two looks, though very boss, are too formal for my taste.

  • Alex R

WES ALL DAY ERR DAY! Damn this dude killed it today. Super sleek and streamlined look. Pop of gray only makes it better. Digging the aesthetic of the scarf also. Well done.

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

Agreed. Wes on his Filipino James Dean, once again.

  • Johann

Wes; not a big fan of black but well done.

  • Brooks

Alex, with Wes second. I love how cozy that look is–marled wool and flannel, all anchored by those glorious double monks.

  • http://marcelvos.tumblr.com M

Wes, and alex as a close second.

  • chrisd

Was never a double-monk guy.. always thought they looked a bit much – until Alex put these on in a previous post. They are perfect, with a perfect taper to the pant leg to show em off. Looking sharp man. I think the hair style and glasses also contribute to the casualness of it all.

  • Mark

Dan and Alex are nice looks, high/low and all that other stuff, but Wes is straight MURDER. Litmus test: the three of them walk into a bar, who gets the hottest girl?

    • Tom

      None of em

      • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

        Ouuuhh burrrrn. haha

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

Haha. Not sure this is fair, considering Wes wore that because he was out late at the bar last night…

  • LouCaves

I am going with Alex because of the vest and chunky sweater combo.

Dan, I like that sweater and the shoe/sock combo as well. The popped collar not so much.

    Thanks, TSB.

  • http://undefined TimL

    Dan get my vote today.
I really like the color combo of the sweater and polo.

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

      Thx player

  • only says inspiring

    inspiring

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

      hahaha that’s all we need.

  • Sergio Arteaga

Wes for me. I try and stay away from black but I’ll be reconsidering this now. Ironically I have DB gray blazer that I don’t know what to pair it with, well I didn’t know what to pair it with.

  • Olerud_4_Life

Wes has the smoothest look. He reminds me of Eddie Murphy in Boomerang, that early 90s gray/black combo sleek look. The best look to me is the second one. That sweater does it. THird look is nice too but i personally dont like the clint eastwood dirty harry hat. Nice look though and cool mismatch shoulder patch.

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

Agreed on Wes. Great reference! Smooth operator.

  • Khaled

Im going to give this to Dan. I’m digging the sweater with that leather patch and the length of the pants. The proportions are on point.

  • Boothy

I really had a lot of time for Alex’s look today. The monkstraps are really cool, the toe cap and the brown on them seems to make them really versatile. I think the cardigan over the suit works really well, especially the colours of cream and the blue from the shirt. Makes those stripes really pop. Alex is Mr Hollywood lately with that curly hair. Well played man.

  • cam

usually pick a winner but give my vote a 3 way split today.
dan, is that nick fouquet on your Instagram the other day? saw him in the latest esquire network ad.

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

      Nice catch!

  • Selfmade Gentleman

    Wes.

For some time I have not been a fan of black clothes, but this outfit has changed my mind.

  • sincan

    Dan, that jumper is awsome!

  • http://undefined Angel

how many inches are those cuffs?

  • http://undefined Jeanscuffed

DAMNIT Dan! I was THIS close to declaring Wes the victor of this post but that sweater definitely says A-Game! I still don’t know who I’m picking but just know it’s between y’all two. UGH

  • Tom

Is townsend phasing out of TSB? Looks like he’s featured less on here

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

Towni used his work at TSB to leverage into a full-time career in menswear. He hence has less time to commit to TSB, but will always be part of the family.

      • TimL

        Good for him.
Isn’t that what everyone wants from here is to make something for themselves out of this?
Hope all is well and maybe bring in some fresh faces too.

      • Jamie

        What’s the career?

  • Shawn

I think Alex wins this time! Love the heavy cardigan as well as the high/low contrast!

  • Adam E

I love Dan’s sweater, but he lost the vote with the popped collar… Narrow victory to Alex (also love that chunky cardigan), but all 3 looks are awesome!

  • http://ramblingsofawould-berenaissanceman.blogspot Joseph

I have to go with Wes on this one. I really like Dan’s more “unusual” look and how well he pulls it off (why are leather patches on clothes always so awesome?!) and think Alex’s “after work ’50s dad” look is oddly cool (that sounds worse than I mean it), but Wes looks like some sort of stylish assassin. And that’s awesome.

  • josh

Wow I’m usually for the all black (wes) all the time, but Alex’s outfit is too good. I love the strong contrast of the black monkstraps and sunglasses with the grey outfit and slouchy cardigan.

Alex I’m copping this look thanks haha.

  • Gusto

    Wes got it locked down.

  • Owen

A big thumbs up for Alex.

Something I just niticed. I assume you guys runs your images through Photoshop or similar. Some of the colours on Dan’s images look different. In the 2nd image your chinos look grey and your hat looks black in the 2nd and 3rd images. I’m possibly being pedantic, but I love the combination of the brown hat and brown suede patches.

  • J. Lamarr

Getting some serious Freddy Krueger vibes from Dan in this one.
