3. Alex

85

Alex busted out a layered look inspired by “old Japanese men, mainly”.

86

“While I was home in Texas I rediscovered some of my workwear pieces that had been sitting in the closet since the LA move. I’m taking advantage of the slightly-less-than-seventy-degree weather to get some layering in.”

87

“Although the primary function of the bandana neckerchief is to collect sweat on hot summer days, it works well as a scarf, fighting off a cold neck in the winter.”

Dan wins. Wes looks likes Manny Pacquiao if he were let in to that Mall in L.A., and Alex looks like Frodo Baggins the Midnight Cowboy.

  • AM

    Dan, always.

  • http://undefined Big Jon

Dan and Khaled are my favorites. Dan’s suits are always on point and Khaled’s colors and fabric choices are well put together.

  • Bob Preis

    Wes

  • Simon D

I must know who made Khaled’s trimmed cargo pants, and where to get them!

  • Joe

Can’t pick between Dan, Alex and Wes. All look great and original.

I like colored laces in general, but not when they’re too bright or neon and scream “look at me”. Especially when they’re under slim cargos, a denim jacket and puffer vest. Comes off as a #menswear stock photo. It doesn’t look bad, just seems a bit contrived.

  • http://undefined TimL

    Dan gets my vote.

    I love the brown suits.

  • Tom

    What is your personal career?

  • http://undefined Mathieu Lavoie

Wow those are all very great looks! But today my vote goes to Alex. Nice layering and I just love the hat and the neck handkerchief. Very cool combination

  • Jakob

Dan. I think that suit is the suit I want the most of the ones featured on TSB. Khaled is a close second. Really strong wiwt.

  • Mark

Dan…hands down. Double-breasted suits are tricky to pull off, and yet the whole look manages to be slick, yet casual at the same time.

  • Andrew

I dont know why but I always seem to relate to Alex’s style, I feel like he owns a couple Filson products lol. Either way solid post, always enjoy seeing what you guys wear on a day to day basis, it keeps the rest of us on our A game!

  • Steve

A four-way tie today, all around great looks! Yes, colored shoe laces on Khaled are great! I snickered to myself when I saw them Dan. I think you should ease up on that fashion statement and let all of us who wear colored shoe laces, albeit tastefully, breath easier!

    • Steve

I should say ease up on your criticism of that fashion statement…

  • http://undefined Nate

Gotta give it to Dan. Not a huge fan of the duffle with this outfit. But that suit…all is forgiven! So beautiful. Love the shoes too.

Good looks all round chaps. Alex a close second. Really carving out his own style. Love it.

  • Wes

Those loafers are sick. Evocative of Louis XIV and Versailles circa 1690 or something.

    • Wes

      *shoes, rather.

  • Dave G

Great WIWT. Can’t decide so can I just do a Frankenstein style allotransplanted outfit consisting of Dan’s jacket, Wes’s gloves, Alex’s shirt, and Khaled’s shoes? Also I can attest you guys dress this well on the regular, as I randomly saw Wes in Atlantic City’s Tropicana casino looking like James Bond ready to murder a craps table. Keep up the good work.

    • http://www.tsbmen.com Westley Dimagiba

wait you saw me in when I was in AC?!

      • Dave G

Most definitely did! But I did a double take because I thought you were shorter (must be the optical illusion of seeing pictures of you next to Dan) until your Instagram confirmed it. Would have said whatup, but alas a beer on me next time you are high rolling in AC.

        • http://www.tsbmen.com Westley Dimagiba

for some reason everyone thinks I’m short hah… but say hi next time homie, love chatting with our readers.

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

“This ain’t no fashion show – WE LIVE IT!!!”

Wes has been going for the Filipino James Dean, but I’m sure he’ll take the Filipino James Bond.

  • Stuart

    Straight fire.

  • Mark Smith

Easily one of the top, if not the top, WIWT you lads have posted.

Dan’s outfit is on point as usual. Absolutely loving that coat – it’s like the love-child of a duffle coat and a parka… You know, if coats could reproduce. Also, as far as power collars go, Harry Hill has the best in the game. (http://img.thesun.co.uk/aidemitlum/archive/01634/Harry-Hill-main_1634053a.jpg)

Khaled epitomises that casual doesn’t mean can’t-be-arsed. Dude just radiates elegance.

Loving that mustard roll-neck Wes has – my mustard shawl cardigan is my go-to this winter for layering.

    Cheers, boys!

  • Calvin

I’m living all of these looks. I gotta give it to Wes though only because I actually just bought those boots haha. I haven’t taken them it in the snow yet. What do you guys do as far as weather proofing them?

  • Chris

    Hey Wes,

How did those boots hold up in the snow in terms of grip? I’m currently on the hunt for a pair of dressier boots for the office that can hold their own against a little bit of ice and snow during the commute without killing me.

    All the best,

    Chris

  • John Foster, III

Dan…outstanding…Khaled…excellent. A difficult choice, so it is a tie. Excellent!

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

If you ain’t first you’re last!! But seriously, thanks John.

  • TO

Everyone’s pretty spot on today. Dan, that’s a great toggle coat. I am going to go with Alex! Great execution off his inspiration.

I like the laces; I actually think a different colour could have worked better as a “pop” in this case. Right now syncs up with the blue of the jacket and shirt, where I think if you are going to go with offbeat laces make them stand out b/c that’s more of the point. Just my 2¢.

    • TO

Dan- do you have a fan art ready to go for this Friday? If not, you should use the one my painter friend I told you about did :)

      • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

I have a couple I haven’t used, but can you email me that one?

        • TO

          Sent.

  • Ian K

Wes for the win. Love those gloves man

  • John B

Tied between Dan and Khaled. The DB suit and the vest (and cargo pants) are awesome.

In my opinion all vests should have either snap buttons or a double zipper (in fact I’d really like it if every zipper was double). My vests don’t have either and I never zip them, I feel it destroys the look.

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

Couldn’t agree more on the double zipper!! Why don’t more designers know about this?!

    • Khaled

Thanks Jon! Thanks for your comment! I agree… I never understood why they cant always add the double zipper. It adds so many more options in how you can wear the vest. By the way, thanks for the tie but Dan always kills it! He gets mine!

  • http://www.thetreasuregentleman.wordpress.com TTG

Khaled wins this. Always well put together.

  • Kevin

Dan just murked everyone. his suit probably cost more than all the other outfits combined.

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

Thx Kevin…although I don’t know about your comment about pricing, Khaled’s Cuccinelli vest is no joke.

  • Johann

    Dan today, very classic.

    • http://undefined Jeanscuffed

That’s exactly what I’m thinking, very classic and very gentlemanly, nailed it

      • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

        Thanks Gents.

  • Eric

Damn Alex, four layers in LA? I’d be running hot as a boiler in that look!

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

      Alex is Cooollld Blooooded

  • Shawn

I love Dan’s suit and coat, but I gotta go with Wes this time!

  • Adam E

    Wes for the easy win…

  • Dennis

Wes. You remain an inspiration to me, good sir. The gold buttons and the leather driving gloves especially.

  • http://undefined Robert

Dan, great juxtaposition with the toggle coat. I admire the use of fabric and color palette you selected. Muted but sophisticated.
Wes, great use of color, proves you do NOT need neon to be flashy and stand out, and look like “grown-up.” Also, keeping true to the thrift shop, cause apparently Macklemore took the money, and ditched his roots, or his “image,” lol.

But, in spirit of Pitti Immagine Uomo, I am giving the check to Alex. Excellent use of layering, a very “dressed up, dressed down” look. His look is entirely effortless, but well constructed. I’m still holding true, he is the next Bill Cunningham.

    • http://tsbmen.com Alex Crawford

That is a huge compliment, thanks Robert!

      • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

        Hahahah I can see it!!

  • http://anorexicescapades.com BougieHippie

Dan no one wears a double breast like you but Wes wins this because he has the styling eye that’s relate able but inspiring and I need those gloves! I really enjoy everyone’s layering and Alex’s Texas ascot. and Khaled is just gorgeous…oops I meant great outerwear layering guy!

    • http://tsbmen.com Alex Crawford

      Texas ascot… nice.

      • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

        #trademark

  • http://www.dressedbycc.com CC

Dan – what exactly does your personal career entail? Also, you get my vote here based on the coat. Nice effort.

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

By “personal career” I mean basically anything I get hired for that is outside the revenue streams of TSB. Could be a lot of things…freelance writing, styling, designing, hosting events, moderating panels, etc. I’m working on some bigger projects at the moment, such as a book deal and tv show concept…but who knows where the chips will fall.

      Thanks for the vote!

  • massimo

I like Khaled’s layering. Alex stole that look form an Asian guy with a fu man chu and ponytail.

  • Kiel West

A tough one! Everyone looked awesome. I’m going with Dan. That outfit has caused me to instantly desire a nice rich brown sportcoat.

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

      #doit

  • http://undefined Ishandev

    Alex for the win.
i’ve bought some old man hats after seeing him rock them. No hobo story though.

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

You buy “some old man hats”, he buys “some old man’s hat”.

  • Sergio Arteaga

Dan gets my vote as it is probably my favorite suit out of all the ones I’ve ever seen on here.

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

      Thanks Serg

      • Sergio Arteaga

This includes my suit(s) by the way. I still don’t know why I haven’t jumped on ordering this same fabric and color.

  • only says inspiring

    inspired

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

      past tense this time, eh?

  • http://undefined Shane

All great looks but I’m going with Khaled. Love the coloured laces!

  • LouCaves

Thumbs up to everyone. But I’m going with Khaled because I am not a fan of cargo pants (or shorts). However, I like his entire look despite my reservations.

Can’t help but shriek seeing snow on those boots, Wes. Shoe “condoms” anyone? :)

    Thanks, TSB.

  • cam

wes wins with a great color palette…dan, what’s the collar point length on angels shirts?

a little strange no that you feature colored laces and cargo pants…if I recall, trends you hope die in 2014

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

It was “cargo pants dressed up”, but yea…I can’t always control what our featured guests wear… Still a great casual look for inspiration. Khaled is the man!

      • cam

agreed khaled was best post if 2013…prefer his tailored looks although the cucinelli vest is fantastic…what collar point length you think is trending dan?

        • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

I’m loving larger collars, like the ones Angel makes (~3.5″ point length). They’re more commanding and sit higher on the neck/off the collar of the jacket. They’re also very 70s inspired, which I’m all about right now (post on this coming soon).

          Cheers Cam.
