Our friend Sabir Peele has been documenting and cultivating an up-and-coming style scene in Philadelphia, PA. So I asked him to recommend a couple guys who were bringing a fresh perspective to menswear in the city of brotherly love.

Meet Curran J. Swint, designer and founder the uplifting streetwear brand Kings Rule Together. Curran’s positive, uplifting message (such as his “Kings Inspire Kings” slogan that has been worn by several celebrity influencers), combined with his eclectic “modern throwback” personal style, has opened some unexpected doors for him, including a cameo in Pharrell’s video IamOther.

Here Curran gives us a taste of his day-to-day Spring style; statement vintage pieces, expressive pattern mixing, and a healthy dose of dusty pastels.

“I love mixing prints, patterns and colors. Most guys tend to wait for the weather to get warm before introducing color into their wardrobes, but I like to wear color year-round…even layered up in the Winter.”

Since when do Kings Rule Together?

  • mligon

Tretorns in look 3! I’m partial to look one, but yes the Tretorns. I still rock mine.

  • Nick A

Second look is a little costumey for me but I must say the jeans in the first look are pretty unreal. That faded Nantucket Red is surprisingly versatile and doesn’t look a little too, well, Nantucket-y. Props on props.

  • Dr. Shrock

So fresh and so clean clean.

  • Al Bizzy

Bustin! Straight up Black Ivy movement. Great feature.

  • MN

    James Harden!

  • JoeFromTexas

Very cool. Much of this could have veered into the “contrived” arena, but it didn’t and comes off as very relaxed and inviting.

    Love the ‘Philly’ Beard!
