I’ll admit it, we’ve missed our photographer Alex this summer.
He has become an integral part of our team not only because of his artistic eye, but also his infectious personality. Alex is a genuine southern gentleman and one of the most intellectual artists I’ve ever met.
Luckily he has one more year in the graduate photography program at Pratt University, so he will be returning to NYC shortly. Meanwhile, we caught up with him earlier this summer down on his family’s ranch in Paige Texas (“just outside of Austin”).
Here Alex gives us a taste of some of his authentic southern style.
1. Sunday’s Best
“I base most of my style choices on a sartorial Occam’s Razor, that is to say that the simplest outfit is most likely the correct one. Although I love a good cluttered or patterned look, nothing gets my attention like someone in a simple streamlined color palette who pulls it off with ease and nonchalance.”
Bonus Tip: Sometimes you don’t need any pattern. If you’re already wearing a bowtie – it doesn’t have to be an in-your-face plaid or stripe. Solid pieces make for a mature and refined look.
Bonus Tip II: It’s no secret that style in the South has it’s own form. Colorful “dandy” staples like seersucker, bow ties, spectators, etc. are right at home.
