1 Piece/3 Ways: Burgundy Trench

March 13th, 2012

One of classic menswear’s most flattering outerwear pieces, in my opinion, is a dark neutral trench coat. It looks good on just about any body type and gives off a mature and refined vibe.

I have a small collection of trenches in different fabrics and colors – this burgundy number is my newest addition.

In a slim fit that hits a couple inches above the knee it can be worn for just about any occasion.

Here are three examples.

1. Business

A trench, like a topcoat, can fit a hair snug over a suit jacket. That way it will still look slim and fitted over thinner layers.

A bold suit like this one (as feature Here in one of the site’s first posts including photography) is best paired with neutral classics like a pale blue shirt, solid dark tie and brown wingtips.

  • Brown leather wingtips by Gucci

I just bought a burberry trench also. I’d love to see a picture of the coat when its buttoned to see how slim it fits on you.

Let me tell about what it’d be like if i saw you dressed like that in the streets. I’d think to myself you must be the Mauve Avenger, bravely walking around in public.

Amazing color for a trench! I’m obsessed!
Burberry coats are always classics and contemporary at same time.

  • Todd

I think the last look is dope! I never would have thought of wearing those loafers…they add a hint of classic/timless swagu! Keep bringing the heat nice post

  • Cosmin Rusu

I like especially the first look.

You know what I like the most about this blog? If I get cough up with the rest of it all and don’t stop by for a while – I ACTUALLY miss it!

The Trench is always a winner and this shade is a refreshing take on a classic, my top looks are the first (can’t get enough of the check grey suit!!!)and the 3rd (effortless and sexy)

I’m afraid you did it again dear :)

“I have a small collection of trenches in different fabrics and colors – this burgundy number is my newest addition.”

Burgundy is great for a trench, as you can just about wear it over a t-shirt without giving off too much of a comic book vibe. And trenches are useful in that you can, in a pinch, roll it up and stick it in a sports holdall. Plus they don’t take up too much room in the closet.

I would love to hear how many trenches you have in your ‘small collection’ though!

SB, I love your navy trench from other posts, and I’ve been on the lookout for one for myself. The versatility of the trench id amazing, as you’ve shown here. The burgandy is great!

Looks 1 and 3 are so boss! I appreciate the frequency at which you are delivering these high quality posts!

  • Ambyr

This trench is amazing to begin with, awesome cut and color. Your Business look is so dapper with the plaid suiting under. I also love your Sharp Casual look. Amazing backdrop with the city and haze but also the look is so simple and lets the trench speak for your whole outfit.

  • Black Fox

I know it’s a little off topic, but I love your Gucci wingtips in the first look. What a great pair of timeless shoes.

  • MOZART5000

That trench coat is stunning. Will definetly be replicating the third look. Still a fan of the Allen Edmonds boots.

  • The Chicken

What model trench is that? Great colour!
